Kenya, 2016

An opportunity to confront a grave HERESY in Kenya

Over the years, as the Christian faith developed, the cult of Witchcraft encroached in an attempt to preserve cultural village superstition. Many men used this opportunity as a way to raise money just as the local witch doctors had done before them. Many people succumbed to the notion that the WAY to get God's attention to their needs was to offer a sacrifice. They were taught "the greater the sacrifice, the more regard would be given by God," adding to this, the abominable threats of God's curse or neglect if one does not offer a sufficient sacrifice. Like the village witch doctors, these heretics convinced the village Christians that only THEY [the village Pastors] could reach God on their behalf. This heresy consumes the Church. It is much akin to the "prosperity doctrine" of the American "Word/Faith" movement------ "send in your seed faith offering of 777 dollars for your blessing of seven months of seven fold income. Pick up that phone right now, while the Spirit of God is moving and the anointing is still upon me [Visa, American Express, and Master Card] for your convenience". A common plea of the American televangelist!

The clear conviction of "Bibles for Uganda" is this----

"There is no Sacrifice in the universe that equals the ETERNAL SACRIFICE ! For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son------! There is no substitute for Jesus and "there is therefore now no condemnation to those who love God."

It is important to us that we confront every heresy that comes our way. Do it with power and authority provided by the Holy Spirit. Danny McDowell----Chairman, New Testament Fellowship International/Bibles for Uganda.

 Dad,
I was invited to teach in a prayer conference by Pastor Monica who is the national coordinator of one of the big prayer ministries in Kenya. That was soon after the tribal clashes which took place after the last election in Kenya and resulted into a terrible blood shed/death of thousands of people. (The post-election violence).  In that conference, everyone was looking for healing of their wounded, broken and confused hearts. God was so kind and talked to them in his word through our teachings. I went with Pastor Ali that time. Today Kenya is crying and interceding with God for Peace, healing of people’s hearts and reconciliation. And the Churches are desperately looking for people who can guide them through the word of God.
This people still remember and testify about our teachings, how it impacted their spiritual lives, after number of years since we were there. For that reason, Last month they decided to invite me again to teach in one of their prayer conferences as the country is organizing another election next year. The prayer meeting was organized in the home village and family of the top opposition party leader Raila
Odinga. His elder brother’s home was the venue. They believe that if Raila's community gets delivered, the whole country will be safe and have peace. The conference was scheduled for Monday 25th April 2016.
God had a serious reason for sending us to Kenya this time as well. We traveled for a whole day to Maranda village, Kisumu In western province. I started my journey as early as 4am, same to Joshua. And we
arrived safely in Maranda at 6pm. We found that people have already arrived that evening from different parts of the country. We had around 30 people who were representing 30 different districts/parts of Kenya. That evening we had a brief session of prayers and I shared the word of God with them.

We had taken Some Swahili bibles but we found that all who attended the conference are not poor people like our Ugandan village pastors. So we decided to save those Bibles for those who could not afford a new Bible. A new native language Bible can cost as much as two weeks wages to a poor village Pastor.

On Tuesday 26th in the Morning, Serious prayers and teaching started. It was a week of serious prayers, fasting and teaching of God’s word. We could only have simple meal at 9pm as we close the day. Pastor
Monica invited us as the main speakers in this conference, but she also invited Pastor Humar from Lugazi whom they considered to be her spiritual father. He came with a friend also from Lugazi whom Humar introduced as his spiritual son.
These men have been going to Kenya several times for many years, teaching heresies, manipulating and stealing from the church. I think that when they came to pastor Monica’s ministry, they found that she was ignorant of God’s word so they managed to manipulate her with their teaching and made her to believe and adopt their teaching. I was the first to teach that day, I gave them a detail information about our ministry of NTFI/BFU. I gave a testimony about how God delivered me from the hands and power of witchcraft and how God have continued to bless me and whatever I do. These men teach that every person has to give a sacrifice in terms of money or valuables to a "man of God" to appease God in order for God to answer their prayers. They have been collecting a lot of money from the people using this system. He Closed his first sermon by collecting sacrifice offerings from the people. They spread a piece of cloth on the ground and called it an altar, so people brought a lot of money and valuable items. He then made them to cry bitterly to God in prayers as they surround this spot. After the prayers he took all the money to his room. This was the saddest moment we have had ever since we started ministering to the village churches. We felt like this man was destroying our entire work by violating the cross of Jesus Christ to this extent.

The sacrifice of gifts along with fervent and lengthy pleading for forgiveness is common in Kenya. The "guest Pastor" takes the cash and gifts home with him.

Praying over "sin sacrifices" in an effort to appease God-----as taught to them by these heretics.

In the next session, we confronted Humar sharply through the scriptures and opposed his teaching. By the help of the Holy Spirit, we did our best to teach this people the truth and stopped everyone from offering
sacrifice in form of money or anything to appease God in any way because Christ paid sacrifice for our sin on the cross once and forever.
When these people began to search the scriptures carefully from their bibles, because all of them are highly educated people including Pastor Monica who is their leader, they began to realize that something is
wrong with them and they have been following not the truth.  On the second last day of the conference, Pastor Monica sat with me and Joshua wanting to know this truth we have. She finally realized that what they believe is not the true word of God.

When pastor Humar suspected serious opposition from us, as we were even insisting that people should be given back their money, he rushed to leave the conference and went back to Uganda before the end of the conference.
After the conference, Pastor Monica pleaded with us to go back and teach her people. She said that false doctrine is being preached and believed in many churches in Kenya yet Kenya needs true word of God in
order for the people to get total healing and reconciliation in their hearts. She asked us to visit her in her home and spend some time with her in the scriptures.  On Friday the conference ended and we traveled safely back to Uganda.
